The intense storm that tore across the United States in the week before Christmas took its toll. Over 400,000 customers lost power across New England, including 260,000 in Maine alone. Unfortunately, some customers will be without power through Christmas, with some in Maine without power for much longer.
In New Hampshire, the main power provider Eversource announced that nearly all outages will be restored by tonight. Massachusetts is seeing outages come down quickly this morning. Connecticut, which saw over 100,000 outages occur Friday morning, is steadily seeing improvement.
Overall, northern New England was hit much worse than southern New England in flooding, power outages and wind damage. The entire eastern United States was impacted by either the storm itself or the arctic front. On Friday morning, nearly half of the lower 48 saw at least 10,000 outages throughout Friday and Friday night.
